The village of Montecreto is 900 m above sea level, inside the park of the Modenèse Modenèse, surrounded by the beautiful forests of beech, chestnut and abètes. It is famous mainly for the Chestnut Park, a forest of centuries-old chestnut trees dating from the time of Mathilde de Canosse considered among the most beautiful of the Apennines. Montecreto is also a typical medieval village that is very pleasant to visit. It rises around the ruins of its castle and the church of San Giovanni. From the village, trails lead to Mount Cervarola from where a superb view of Mount Cimone opens. Here you can also visit the old town of Marina, which is now abandoned.
