At 1,945 m above sea level, the mountain of Corno alle Scale is the highest point in the province of Bologna. Located in the territory of the municipality of Lizzano in Belvedere, in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, it marks the border with Tuscany, which extends from its southern slope. There is a famous ski resort where Alberto Tomba, the ski champion from Bologna, started his career. The massif belongs to the vast Parco Regionale del Corno alle Scale, a protected natural area. In the summer, the numerous trails offer opportunities for hiking to discover the deer and roe deer that populate the local forests. More information on cornoallescale.net.
