A border town with Guinea-Conakry, Fongolimbi is located some 30 km from Kédougou, and is a landlocked village of over 5,000 inhabitants, where Peuls and Djalonkés live together in harmony. Fongolimbi is famous for its large weekly market on Thursdays, with its lively atmosphere. From Malinda, you can reach Fongolimbi by car or motorcycle. A two-hour hike can also take you there, provided you are accompanied by a guide. In the mountain range to the west of Fongolimbi, towards the Dindéfello waterfall, a high concentration of chimpanzees has been observed, as the vegetation here is luxuriant.
