This city of 70,000 inhabitants plays perfectly with its urban contrasts. Its mining past is subtly integrated into the new architectural projects under development. In reality, few foreign tourists venture here, even though it's close to the Dutch border, as the city offers little of interest. A few will discover this "black country" past, especially on the C-Mine augmented reality tour, but also for a stroll in the nearby Upper Kempen National Park, the first created in Flanders, which boasts some 40 hiking trails. Their soccer club is particularly well known in Belgium.
