Around 650, Trudon, a frank gentleman built a small church and a monastery on the edge of a large valley where a stream was flowing, called the Cicindria. In a few centuries, the small religious community of Trudon will become a powerful and prosperous abbey. Today, in the old medieval town of Saint-Trond, there are still many historical monuments: the ruins of the abbey with its abbey tower (very beautiful panorama on the city and the region from the summit), the porch, the belfry, the city hall (th) the collegiate church (th and th), the beguinage church (xiii) and its th century organ… The city is now the Belgian capital of the fruit.
