Charming town located south of Tournai, Antoing owes its fame to two natural resources, stone and water, which have allowed it to prosper and become a lively city and castle. Already in Gallo-Roman times, stone was used for building after transformation in a lime kiln, replacing cob and wood. Another important source of income for the town was the water from the Scheldt, which was used to produce and transport goods. Nowadays, Antoing lives in peace, between the factories, the very quiet city centre and the tourist places, including the famous castle.
