Building for the Sire of Antoing, which was transformed to receive successively the powerful family of Melun then the Lines.

The origins of this building go back more than ten centuries: originally built for the Sire of Antoing, it was transformed to receive successively the powerful family of Melun then the Line, always present and owners of the castle. This feudal castle which dominates the valley of the Escaut is noticeable from miles around and yet shows its true nature only once inside the perimeter. The enclosure dates from the 12th century, under Gautier d'Antoing.

Le château n'est pas accessible quand on le désire car il est habité mais ponctuellement des visites sont organisées.
Je conseille de monter tout en haut de la tour. La vue est réellement imprenable.
Et on peut reprendre ses forces car il faut redescendre après.
