Located a few kilometers from the sea, the small town of Daxia is best known for its temple, very famous in Taiwan and among the most visited. There are a number of interesting sites, all accessible on foot from the station, including a perfectly preserved temple of Confucius, old houses and some small temples. A few kilometers to the north, the tiny Zhunan railway station (take a taxi from Daxia station, for about NT$100), built of wood, is considered one of the most charming in Taiwan. The rest of the small town is not of particular interest, but gives a glimpse of a less modern Taiwan. The local specialties are taro-based, hence the abundance of pastries.
