Located at the extreme east of Shenzhen, about fifty kilometers from downtown. The small fishing port of Nan 'ao is renowned for its excellent seafood, the best in Shenzhen. The old fortress of Dapeng, a fortified city built during the Ming dynasty (1394), was a strategic military site. Its four doors remain today, along with sections of its ramparts. The architecture of the city follows a veritable maze of typical streets of the medieval cities of China and the detour which still finds some temples in operation.
