Lukang is one of our favourite destinations, if you are looking for authenticity and exoticism. It is one of the small towns full of history that you must visit. Lukang could have modernized but its inhabitants preferred to preserve the identical face of their city. The old streets, which have emerged from the past, provide a charming backdrop: traditional houses with altars, craftsmen making incense, and temples, among the most precious in Taiwan. You can come and spend the day from Taichung, or stay overnight, to enjoy the magic of the old streets once the tourists are gone.
