Small village with a sad past: like Lidice, in the vicinity of Prague, Javoříčko was completely destroyed in May 1945 by SS troops, as a punishment for the actions of the local maquis or out of simple cruelty as the Third Reich was collapsing: there are no traces of written orders to document the reasons for the massacre. The village was never rebuilt, and in its place is a simple memorial at the common grave where the victims were buried. The present village is on the other side of the river and is a simple stopover without much interest for visitors on their way to Javoříčko Caves
