As early as the 10th century, the town became an important crossing point between Prague and Leipzig. Today, it is a charming little town (the city center at least) with a central square that obviously has its share of colorful bourgeois houses. The church of St. Catherine is known to be one of the oldest of its kind: primary Gothic. The town is located halfway between Ustí/Teplice and Karlovy Vary. It is connected to the former by the E441 highway and a train line connects all these towns from Prague Hlavní nadraži, so that jumping from one to the other is very easy.
