Gjögur is a fishing village in the Western Fjords, some twenty kilometers from Djúpavík. Relatively untouched by tourists, it does boast a seafront hot pot ... the use of which is currently reserved for the owners. The town is best known to locals for its small airfield, which is only open to Eagle Air. Once or twice a week, depending on the season, the airline operates two flights between Reykjavík and Gjögur. In winter, this airfield is very important for the local population, as the runways become impassable, making it the only way to reach the region.
