You won't often get to go to the beach during your trip to Louisiana, this state park is one of the few opportunities you can take, so you might as well take advantage of it. Access is via Highway 83 from Baldwin or New Iberia, then 319 to the shores of Vermilion Bay. In addition to the beach, the park is home to incredible wildlife, including many species of birds, opossums, alligators, deer and even black bears. As you leave the park, take a short detour to the right on Highway 319 and back to see the miles of small stilt houses that are actually the country homes of the locals.
