Abbeville, which was founded in 1844 by Father Megret, is the county seat of Vermilion Parish. You will be surprised when you arrive in this charming and picturesque town by the pastel colors of the historic buildings on South Concord Street built in the 1920s, renovated and repainted with fantasy, like this bank with its particular architecture, a small castelet that seems to come from a cartoon... Here the city is organized around a "French-style" downtown, whose heart is Magdalen Square, a pretty little square of oaks and magnolias. Not to be missed in November: the celebration of the giant omelet.
