Canavieiras is located in the northwest of the island of Florianopolis between the beaches of Jurerê and Cachoeira do Bom Jesus. Its name would come from its former agricultural function of sugar. The northern part of the island is the most frequented by holidaymakers. Canasvieiras is a classic resort which in summer is overflowing with Argentines who have made it their stronghold. Jet-skiing, regattas, like in Buzios, but much more popular. You have to appreciate the calm waters and the numerous crowds, like on the beaches of Languedoc-Roussillon.
