It's one of the most famous cities in the state. It is indeed a German "colony". 150 km from Floripa, in a region under Germanic influence since the second half of the 19th century, the old Blumenau is clothed in some pretty 1850 wooden cross houses, contrasting with the rest of the city, which is very modern and lively. With its almost 300,000 inhabitants, Blumenau is a former agricultural colony populated by German immigrants and is home to one of the most surprising and traditional festivals in Brazil. This Brazilian-style beer festival, modelled on the one in Munich, is enriched by a few samba and forrò tunes.
