Armação is a small fishing village from the Azores, from where you can embark for the small Ilha do Campeche, very popular with divers. Once a whaling beach, Armaçao is now home to more peaceful activities. The village has a whale watching centre that returns to the bay. Armaçao beach has two very different aspects. On one side, the fishing community and a quiet beach, where you can see a lot of fishing boats, with few waves and on the other side, a beach (Priaia do matadeiro) where the rollers are impressive and which is favored by surfers.
