This town of 2,400 inhabitants, which became chief town of the former cantons of Seurre and Saint-Jean-de-Losne in 2015, has the distinction of having two 18th century castles. The first one enters, in the XIXth century, in the Magnin family. It was they who set up iron mines, a blast furnace, a forge, but also a sugar factory and a distillery in Brazey. Joseph Magnin, one of the founding fathers of the Third Republic, bequeathed the castle of Brazey to the State. The estate was acquired by the municipality in 1972 and since then it has been the object of much attention, thanks to the municipality and the association of the Friends of Magnin Park.
