Mertert, which forms a single commune with Wasserbillig, is located at the extreme north-east of the Luxembourg Moselle, at the confluence of the Moselle and the Sûre rivers. It is above all an important German-Luxemburgish river port. In Wasserbillig you can visit the aquarium, enjoy various water sports and admire the 17th century altar of the baroque church. Hikers and history lovers will enjoy visiting the nearby Weiler Forest, which is crossed by the old Roman road. A walk of about 13 km round trip, called "De borne en borne" (From milestone to milestone), leads to the remains of Roman tombs
