Larochette's Luxembourg name is Fiels (Fels), meaning "rock" in German. Its castle, now partly in ruins, stands on this rocky outcrop overlooking the Ernz Blanche. In the past, the village was a leading centre of the textile industry, with fabric and clothing factories. Today, it's mainly a tourist destination. There are many hiking trails in the vicinity: the Manzenbach, linking Larochette to Château de Meysembourg, offers lovely views, and the Nommerlayen leads to the remains of the Roman camp at Aalbourg. Larochette castle is said to be haunted by a ghost..
