Diekirch's reputation is based on the beer of the same name that has been brewed here since 1871. The town lies at the heart of a green, wooded hilly environment (including the 394 m high Herrenberg, which is part of the town's history), with the river Sûre flowing peacefully. An old church, squares with fountains, little houses, alleys: the old town, which has maintained its character as an island of peace and beauty, has developed a very lively pedestrian area. History lovers, don't miss the Saint-Laurent church, classified as a Historic Monument and built on the foundations of an important Roman villa
