Situated 15 km northwest of Echternach, on a plateau on the edge of the impressive limestone massifs of the Mullerthal region, Beaufort has a superb Renaissance castle built in the 17th century by the lords of Beaufort and open to the public, as well as the ruins of a 12th century castle. There is also the church of Saint-Michel, a beautiful neo-Gothic church. The locality offers two specialities: the Kirsch and the Cassis of Beaufort (Cassero), very appreciated here... Finally, Beaufort is the starting point of many walks. The town is located on Route 3 of the regional Mullerthal Trail
