Located some fifteen kilometers from Colmar, on the northern border of the Haut-Rhin department, Grussenheim has developed over the centuries along an ancient Roman road, the Heidenstraessel. The village was first known in 736 as Grosinhaim, which translates as "village of Grozo". Built in 1750, its baroque Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross boasts a remarkable high altar. Dedicated to nature lovers, its sentier du Sanglier is accessible to families with children. It provides valuable information on the life of these friendly omnivorous mammals in a setting of carefully preserved meadows.
