Built on an ancient Roman crossroads, the small town of Marckolsheim stands out for its flower-growing: the local population is particularly involved, which has earned it 4 flowers in recent competitions. You can visit the old town center with a brochure available from the tourist office. Guided tours are organized in summer. See the former chapel of Mauchenheim, a village that no longer exists. It features beautifully restored 13th-century frescoes. Go as far as the two locks on the Grand Canal d'Alsace, near the hydroelectric power station, where you can watch the passage of boats and containers on a specially-designed footbridge.
