In addition to being the largest commune in the Hautes-Côtes, Arcenant can boast of having a history... and what a history! Research dating back to 1988 has proven that the village was occupied by the Romans. In the 12th century, the monks cultivated the vine and six centuries later the life of the inhabitants changed with the Gamay plant. Hence the bunch of grapes on the coat of arms of Arcenant! Then came the cultivation of red fruits which still makes the reputation of the village with its creams and liqueurs. Nowadays, Arcenant has 505 inhabitants, houses with typical architecture, a charming church and some other curiosities!
