Triora has been nicknamed "The Witch Village" because of an infamous witch-hunting episode which, between 1587 and 1589, led to a dozen women being arrested, tortured and condemned for witchcraft. Yet Triora is a charming, picturesque village that has retained its medieval structure, with ramparts and a clever hydraulic system with fountains that guaranteed water supplies to all levels of the village. Time seems to stand still as you stroll through the narrow streets of the historic center, where you'll notice artistically sculpted pedimented portals. Not to be missed: the Museum of Witchcraft.
