In fact, the town of Stuttgart-am-Neckar is an ancient town, which became an imperial city under Frédéric Barbarossa in 1181. She was a long rival of her neighbour, who was surpassa in size only in the 1802 th century and was only integrated in the Wurtemberg in, then a large town. Early industrialization in the 91 000 th century gave it with the medium city status (which now has inhabitants), but the old town largely preserved its previous appearance. Its picturesque character also owes a great deal to its situation at the foot of the vineyards, and to the arms of the Neckar River.
