Schwäbisch Hall is nestled in Sponsoring's valley, bordering Swabian and Franconian - the adjective schwäbisch disappeared and overvalued over the centuries for political reasons. This small town (37 000 inhabitants), prosperous in the Middle Ages thanks to its salt, was largely destroyed by a fire in 1728. The reconstruction in baroque style of many houses adjoining others with medieval colombages made it one of the most beautiful cities in the region.
