Located on the Outer Cape, Wellfleet is a small town known for its many art galleries. Popular with artists, it attracts visitors thanks to its special light, nicknamed "Cape Cod Light". The village is charming and has managed to preserve its authenticity. In early October, on Columbus Day, Wellfleet organizes the Wellfleet Oyster Festival, which attracts 20,000 visitors over the weekend. This makes accommodation, traffic and parking impossible, unless you plan well in advance. The Cape Cod National Seashore, a splendid protected area with 40 miles of beach, includes part of Wellfleet.
