Hyannis is where President Kennedy and his family vacationed in their grand residence, the Kennedy Compound. A museum is dedicated to them, as is a memorial to JFK and a guided itinerary. Here, we discover more about Kennedy's personal life than his political career. Hyannis is also the departure point for ferries to the islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. There's nothing exceptional about the town itself, but hotels here are less expensive than in the rest of the Cape. Restaurants are concentrated on Main Street and the harbour. In summer, Peter Pan buses run to and from Boston's South Station.
