Chatham is a small chic town, located southeast of Cape Cod, inhabited since the 17th century. Believe it or not, it was once a den of pirates who pillaged ships lost at sea. Now, as you wander through its peaceful streets lined with posh houses, it's hard to imagine its eventful past! Today the lighthouse, called the Chatham Lighthouse, is a landmark for sailors to find their way around the sea. Along with the Monomoy Wildlife Refuge, which provides a beautiful natural habitat for migratory birds, the lighthouse is one of the city's main tourist attractions. Chatam is a typical small New England fishing port, still inhabited by fishermen.
