Site of the first transatlantic telegraph station in the United States, located on Marconi Beach
South of Wellfleet, at the top of the dunes of Cape Cod National Seashore at Marconi Beach, is the site of the first transatlantic telegraph station in the United States, built in 1901-1902. In January 1903, President Theodore Roosevelt sent the first transatlantic telegram to King Edward VII of England. It is named after its inventor, Guglielmo Marconi, who is considered one of the inventors of radio. The site is located on Marconi Beach, which can be freely accessed.
