A member of the Association des plus beaux villages du Québec, L'Islet includes the former municipalities of L'Islet-sur-Mer, Saint-Eugène and Ville de L'Islet. It was created as two seigneuries in 1677, L'Islet-Saint-Jean and Bonsecours. Today, the area is a beautiful tourist destination offering all the charm and hospitality of Quebec villages. Its location along the river and its proximity to the Appalachian Mountains make it a dream location for outdoor enthusiasts. Quebec's maritime history also has a special place here, with a museum entirely dedicated to the cause.
