Covering an area of over 190 km² and clearly visible from Quebec City, it has lost none of the pastoral tranquility that inspired singer Félix Leclerc (he lived here until his death). With its churches with tapering steeples and 18th-century Norman homes, it perpetuates the image of rural life in New France. Route 368 (68 km) offers superb views of Côte-de-Beaupré and Mont Sainte-Anne, as well as the shores of the Chaudière-Appalaches region to the south. Six towns dot the route, each with its own unique charm. Île d'Orléans is a haven of peace and bucolic beauty.
