The peaceful town of Dunvegan is best known for its famous castle, home of the powerful MacLeod clan. There is a Visit Scotland information point for more information on this part of the island. If you are staying in the area, visit the Colbost Folk Museum and the Giant MacAskill Museum, which focus on local history and culture. On the nature front, the northwestern peninsulas of Duirinish and Waternish are worth seeing. Duirinish attracts visitors for Neist Point, a magnificent rocky point topped by a lighthouse, which can be reached after a short 2 km walk to Waterstein and back. Be careful to check the weather.
