Mallaig is one of the main fishing ports of the country and is the last stop on the West Highland Line and Islands route. The main reason to visit Mallaig is to discover its fascinating region and to board the ferry to the Small Isles, Skye, the Outer Hebrides or the Knoydart Peninsula. Follow the Mallaig Circuit Walk for a beautiful view of the harbor and Loch Nevis. The Jacobite Steam train ( Harry Potter's famous steam train) takes you there from Fort William. While there, visit the Mallaig Heritage Centre and explore the beaches. Mallaig is 1 hour 25 minutes from Fort William by train and 1 hour 10 minutes by bus on the Shiel Buses 500.
