Barmouth resembles a mountain village. It lies on the estuary of the River Mawddach, between the Cader Idris range and Harlech Dome. Long beaches line the southern part of the town, while to the north, the mountains can be reached via the old town's winding rocky lanes. You'll pass between stone houses built one above the other, separated by small gardens. The constant changes in altitude create a truly aesthetic play on perspective. The views over the village and the estuary are constantly changing, always picturesque. This is the starting point for The Three Peaks Race, which involves climbing Britain's three greatest peaks.
