Porthmadog is animated in good weather by a flow of tourists in transit to other parts of the peninsula. The place that we mainly contemplate is at the entrance of the city, just before crossing the bridge. It is a bay surrounded by mountains, with floating grass islands, like the remains of a sunken landscape: a good appetizer for the surrealist nature that awaits you on the peninsula. A museum, a gallery, two steam trains and a beautiful walk from the town centre can hold you for a few hours in this town where you mainly come to spend the night before going to Portmeirion. Be careful, no information point in the station, it is better to get information at the tourist office.
