Don't rely on his slightly asleep aspect, this village has a glorious past. He holds his name, Pesnel, from one of the Norwegian pirate leaders who following Rollon invaded the province. The village was the cradle of the Lignée line. Raoul was a companion of Guillaume the Conqueror, Coots II founded the Abbey of Hambye, and joining England caused the wrath of Louis IX who came to shave the castle of Coots. Charles de Navarre also came to this place to lay down the Castle of Ganne in 1360 and remember that Duguesclin was Lord of the Hague-Pesnel from 1376 to 1380.
