East of Melfi, on the Statale 168, Venosa is one of the most significant archaeological sites of the Roman period in the area. Home of the poet Horace (65 BC), it has, among its architectural wonders, an abbey that was the necropolis of the Norman conquerors. Venosa is a fascinating place where art, culture, history, archaeology and commerce meet. Walking around the castle in the evening immerses us in the atmosphere of daily walks with friends and relatives. To discuss, to meet, all in a lively atmosphere. A sweet atmosphere that is much less likely to be found in Melfi or Potenza.
