East of Melfi, on Statale 168, Venosa is one of the most significant archaeological sites of the Roman period in the region. Homeland of the poet Horace (65 BC), it has an abbey that was the necropolis of the Roman conquerors. The architectural wonders of the city are innumerable. Venosa is a fascinating place where art, culture, history, archaeology and commerce intersect. Venosa has a very special, pleasant, lively atmosphere. Walking in the evening, around the castle, immerses us in the atmosphere of daily walks with friends and relatives. To digest, to discuss, to meet... A gentle atmosphere that you will find much less in Melfi or Potenza.
