Located to the north of Savonlinna, the park can be reached via road no. 471 towards Enonkoski. Once in Enonkoski, follow the signs for a few kilometers. As with Linnansaari, Kolovesi covers an area of 23 km² in the Saimaa archipelago. Two islands, Vaajasalo and Mäntysalo, occupy almost the entire surface of the park.
