The Saverne region and the Mossig ValleyThe High Valley of Mossig extends from Wangenbourg-Engenthal to Wasselonne. It is a land where the Celtic, medieval and religious places are not lacking. A country loaded with stories. Located at the foot of the Schneeberg - Mont des Neiges - 961 m above sea level, Wangenbourg-Engenthal is one of the oldest regional tourist resorts. Known as "Switzerland of Alsace", it has been appreciated for a hundred years for its clean air and coniferous forests. The Mossig descends through fir and then agricultural land to Wasselonne separate from Kochersberg by the Goethberg. In an amount north by the small roads, we arrive in Mamoutier, famous for its ancient abbey. To the west of this zone, the Vosges massif becomes very narrow over a distance of several kilometres. So much so that the Col Pass has always been one of the places of passage for crossing the Vosges. On the surrounding summits, which form a natural border between Alsace and Lorraine, have been built numerous defensive or religious buildings. They dominate the mountain agglomerations such as Haegen, Saverne and Saint John.
