This small, dynamic border resort already has an Italian ambience, with a number of slopes starting from the village and in the surrounding area: Kartitsch, Sankt Oswald and Obertilliach. Dare to try the Kammabfahrt run, a challenge in itself with its 11 km and 1,300 m of cumulative positive vertical drop! With over 2,000 inhabitants, it's the largest village between Lienz and the border, and also one of the oldest, mentioned as far back as the 11thcentury . Sillian comes from Siligan, the former name of the river Villgraten. Its church, originally built in 1431, was remodeled in the Baroque style in the mid-18thcentury , bringing its cachet to the town center.
