Bifröst belongs to the municipality of Borgarbyggð, in western Iceland, and has a population of just over 200. Bifröst, or "the rainbow", is home to Grabók. This curious volcano is a basalt cone with a crater over 3,000 years old. It's easy to climb; from its low summit, you can see the whole region, the surrounding lakes, the purple fields of lupines when in season and, surprise, a forest! To the east, the Langjökull ice cap can be seen, while to the west, the rock formations of Snæfellsnes begin. 1 km to the south is the picturesque Glanni waterfall.
