10,873 inhabitants. Svidník is located in the historical region of Šariš and was completely destroyed during the Second World War. Rebuilt during the Soviet era, it has little to offer visitors architecturally other than blocks of houses, large concrete squares and heroic statues. There is a museum of Ukrainian culture, a skanzen and a military museum. On the other hand, the surroundings are interesting to discover the wooden churches of the Ruthenian villages and the Dukla Pass, a high place of battle between the Soviet and German soldiers during the Second World War.
