A railway hub and a metropolis in a strategic position just behind the Tatras, Poprad is not, however, of major tourist interest. Although the city can serve as a convenient base to radiate in the Tatras, we advise you to push to the resorts at the foot of the mountains, such as Tatranská Lomnica or Smokovec for a stay more in touch with nature. Otherwise, the town offers a small, not unpleasant historical centre around its main square and, above all, a small village marvel that is now part of Poprad's urban area, Spišská Sobota, which alone is worth a visit with its magnificent example of a medieval square with fairy-tale views of the Tatra Mountains.
