The last stop on the wine route, Modra ("blue" in Slovak) is perfectly situated in the heart of the Little Carpathians. With its 8,795 inhabitants, it is worth a visit for its hiking trails in this hilly landscape with vine-covered slopes and for the nearby Červený Kameň castle. Modra is also famous for its earthenware, majolica, which was in great demand in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The town itself, however, lacks charm, built in a hurry by the merchants. For those who wish to extend the drive, pass through the nearby villages of Dubová, Častá, Doľany, Dolné Drešany Vištuk, Budmerice, and Šenkvice.
