Svätý Jur, formerly Jur pri Bratislave, Sankt Georgen in German or Szentgyörgy in Hungarian, is a small traditional wine town in southwestern Slovakia, located in the Bratislava region. Even today, it is dedicated to wine production, and 411 ha of its area are devoted to grape growing. Among the most typical grape varieties are müller thurgau, riesling, pesecka leanka, blaufränkisch and st. laurent. The best time to visit the city, its monuments and taste its wines is probably in November during the open cellar day; otherwise, go to the Vinocentrum.
